EA Play on Steam and EA Play on Origin are separate subscriptions, with the latter having a significantly larger library of games despite being the same price. EA partnered with Microsoft so that Xbox Game Pass subscribers would have access to the basic EA Play service at no additional cost. EA Play gets you: Unlock exclusive challenges and rewards, member-only content, early trials of new releases, and access to a library of top titles. Play select new-release games for up to 10 hours even before they launch. Get more to play with unlimited access to a collection of Electronic Arts’ fan-favorite series and top titles.

- Yet when the curtain was pulled back on EA Play yesterday on Steam, some were a bit underwhelmed: EA Play on Steam offers access to 47 titles, while EA Play on Origin offers access to 216 titles. The math shakes out to 21.76% of titles having made the EA Play jump from Origin to Steam.
- EA now has EA Play on Steam and if you subscribe for 1 month you receive the game with the code on steam and can activate on Origin with that same code, however on Origin the game is forever in your account. Here is a list that I managed to activate: Crys.
A multitude of game companies now offer subscription services that offer a catalog of games for free, beyond the monthly subscription fee. EA Play is just one of those services, and it's finally ready to make its move to Steam.
Steam is one of the most-used gaming platforms for PC out there, with Origin, EA's own game platform, often serving as direct competition. However, the recently revitalized EA Play program is independent of Origin, and players will be able to access it via Steam starting at the end of the month: August 31.

EA Play was previously called EA Access, but the benefits remain largely the same. Players can sign up for a basic account which offers access to select games and discounts on certain titles for $29.99 a year, or upgrade to the more expensive option, EA Play Pro, at $99.99. The larger price tag is often considered worth it, as the service lets players enjoy brand-new EA games, similar to Xbox Game Studios titles being free with Xbox Game Pass.
EA Play is also available on PS4 and Xbox One consoles, giving players plenty of choices on how they want to access the publisher's games. While adding another way to access the service on PC may seem like overkill to some, players often have one preferred gaming platform on PC, so this move will likely help EA to gain new EA Play subscribers who have been reluctant to join Origin in the past, and may not have had a console to otherwise access the service.

The latest update to the Steam client has dropped, and with it comes some exciting features. Along with the usual bug fixes and new 'Flick Stick' controls, Valve has added support for EA Play.
EA Play is the first subscription service of its type on Steam, boasting such features as in-game rewards for having the subscription and access to specific EA titles. Players get access to new titles for up to 10 hours of playtime. An EA account is required, though now players can register with their Steam account.

Underneath the fanfare of EA's rush to get its titles to launch through Steam, one neat new feature which was quietly added is 'Jibb Smart's Flick Stick.' This controller configuration, which is available for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Steam controllers, can be found in the configuration sub-menu for any joystick or touchpad. This setting allows the player to point the joystick in the relative position they wish to look, though it does require the controller's gyro to take over for the Y-axis.
There were plenty of bugs to be fixed, the most amusing one allowing users to acquire free DLC from the Steam store using an in-game browser. Other issues included the platform hanging or crashing at shutdown time, the user's download region getting set to 'Argentina' in certain settings, and unfriended or blocked users being displayed in a game's activity feed. Valve's new chat filter is still in Beta and was not included in the update.
Users who were unable to use the Steam controller with certain games, even with Big Picture Mode enabled, may be glad to know that Valve fixed an issue with how Steam handles games that launch from 3rd party apps, such as EA's Origin. The devs have also addressed issues with Nintendo Switch controllers locking up when certain games send 'rumble off' commands each frame.
Some are reporting that in certain regions, users are unable to purchase an EA Play subscription, though the cause is currently unclear.
