Markdown is a popular text formatting syntax these days. With Pandoc it is easy to convert markdown files to PDF, Words docx or many other formats. I have my resume written in Markdown, with LaTex templates. This is really handy because now I only have one place to edit my resume, and update my website, and have copies in various formats like. I'm using the pandoc-mode package for easy conversion between multiple formats. I set the pdf-engine option in pandoc-mode to xelatex, but when I am trying to convert a markdown file to a PDF, pandoc-mode always uses the latex PDF engine, which, by default, does not include support for UTF-8 characters. I've authored and published an ebook in just two months. In this article I describe how I did it.
